Review of Jonah Hex (2010) by Michael V — 15 Nov 2011
This movie starts out bad and keeps up on that track continuingly becoming worse and worse. There really is nothing good about this movie. A script so bad that the writers should go back to 3rd grade. The movie is a mess.
Very Noisy. Lacks imagination. Completely forgettable. I mean I could go on all day. The only thing good about this movie is Josh Brolin and supporting cast, he gives a good performance as Jonah Hex, he tries to save this complete shit of a film.
But sadly its too much of a bloated mess to save. I truly feel bad for him. And how did they pull together such a talent cast with this script. Come on John Malkovich deserves better villian roles then this.
Will Arnett is comic brillance and you give him nothing to work with. Michael Fassbender seemed to be having a fun time with his role but he is still so much better then this. Jeffrey Dean Morgan is wasted on a role they could have gotten any second or third rate actor to play.
Aidan Quinn. The man is a great actor sadly hasn't been seen in a long time and now I find him in this. FUCK. Wes Bentley... hasn't really done a good movie since he came on the scene with American Beauty so I don't give a shit if he's in this or not.
And what hurt me the worse was Michael Shannon. Man is incredible. And his performance is seriously in the background. It's so brief. The only reason why I caught him is because I knew he was in this movie otherwise it would have gone right past me.
Last and deffinately least. Megan Fox. Hopefully this movie is the last nail in the coffin to push this talentless hack into the direct to video line where she deserves to be. The action was lifeless and boring.
When something cool was about to happen the camera cuts away and the cool stuff happens off screen. I didn't give a shit about Hex's revenge. His family gets murdered by the bad guy because Hex killed the bad guys son who also happens to be his best friend.
So yeah eye for an eye. With this running at eighty minutes everything feels rushed and disorintated. It seriously felt like you only got half the movie. That during the editing process a whole shitload got cut out.
So many plot holes. Such a mess of a movie. If a director's cut should ever surface I'll give it another shot but until then this movie can just rightly fuck off.
