Review of Jolene (2010) by Kristal C — 28 Apr 2011
Yet another story written by a man about a "woman's journey" in which she is raped, beaten, prostitutes herself, becomes a convenient lesbian and works as a stripper in between the times that various creepy men drift in and out of her life to seemingly save her.
But hey, she's redeemed in the end so it's all good! Two stars for Jessica Chastain who is stunning in the role and manages to give her character a quiet dignity even though it's not written into the script.
It's 2011 people, let's evolve our male fantasies, shall we?
