Review of Johnny Mnemonic (1995) by Kenneth C — 13 Sep 2008
Before the Matrix, there was....JOHNNY MNEMONIC! One of those movies that's sort of jawdroppingly odd--managing to feel somehow dated right after it came out with a vision of the near future, but not in a bad way, this is a movie filled with the wierdness.
..Keanu Reeve's haircut and some very strange reaction shots, Dolph Lundgren's Street Preacher hitman, Ice-T in full dreadlock supporting character mode,Takeshi Kitano trying to keep his dignity, Udo Kier bugging his eyes, the cybernetically enhanced dolphin, the strange vision of the internet.
....it's not a good movie by any stretch, but it's definitely an energetic one.
