Review of Johnny Mercer: The Dream's on Me (2009) by Monsieur R — 28 Sep 2010
While not a name many instantly recognize, Mercer wrote or co-wrote so many standards used in many films. A nice documentary that goes from birth of the legendary musical genius from the American south.
Eastwood makes a brief appearance in the beginning of the film, but this is not his to act in at all. It is pure documentary that he obviously approved of and lent his name to.
Highly recommended for musicology students, music history buffs and film buffs alike if they ever heard his music in soundtracks.
Moon River, of course, in Breakfast at Tiffeny's is one of the best known of the modern era.
