Review of Johnny Guitar (1954) by Carlos C — 14 Dec 2010
An amusingly odd proto-feminist western from Nicholas Ray, "Johnny Guitar" is a bit over-the-top at times, but is redeemed by fantastic performances from Crawford, Hayden, McCambridge and the director's always stylish, assured direction.
A subvervive treat that tweaks the conventions of the genre, "Johnny Guitar" is well worth seeking out.
