Review of Johnny Got His Gun (2008) by Mark B — 21 May 2008
It seems everyone else is gripped by this movie, but I'm afraid I simply wasn't. On paper it should be a compelling film, but it's poorly scripted and poorly executed. I can understand and believe the emotions of 'Johnny', but the nurse's instant acceptance of his request, after all her care, and without any reasoning is beyond belief.
This is not a film about the futility of war. It is a film about the emptiness of nihilism.
