Review of Johnny English Reborn (2011) by Subas N — 20 Apr 2012
I thought the first movie was alright (I need to watch it again, last watch was the first time in probably 4 years, my expectations were off), so I thought I might as well give this a shot.
Overall, while it's entertaining, it's not super funny, though it has its moments (the scene where English stays one step ahead of the assassin by taking the elevator was awesome, but the opening scene in Tibet, aside from the "Am I ready?" "No." exchange, was meh). The part with English mistakenly attacking that poor old lady again and again brought back a vibe I got from Steve Martin's Clouseau in "Pink Panther 2": more depressing than funny.
Sorry, I'm sounding like kind of a downer here, it was certainly watchable, just not really memorable or hilarious (the latter term meaning I laughed out loud more than a few times).
3/5 stars.
