Review of Johnny English Reborn (2011) by Jacob B — 30 Jul 2018
Johnny English Reborn has few funny moments and Rowan Atkinson is charming with a good bit of acting from him near the climax. But I thought it to be inferior to the first movie. While English there was an idiot, here he seems to be hopelessly incapable of noticing obvious screw ups to the point that guy from Get Out has to point them out for him.
The villain actually had a point about him never belonging in MI7. At least, the first movie gave him an excuse to go out on the field, here it's a miracle Gillian Anderson doesn't give him the sack by the end of the movie.
Johnny English Reborn has a few fun scenes including one where he takes easy routes to chase a thief who keeps using his parkour skills walking behind him like a Terminator of some sort but this movie is a waste of Rowan Atkinson's talent.
It's a shame too because it seems like he'll only ever be known for Mr. Bean. That poster doesn't help matters either.
