Review of John Wick: Chapter 2 (2017) by Philip Terry G — 20 Jun 2017
Helmed by yet another spine-chilling performance by Keanu Reeves, John Wick's second act is leagues more thrilling and engaging than its first, delivering a thought-provoking narrative accompanied yet again by some incredibly creative action sequences that combine the stretching of human limitation, other-worldly choreography and stunning imagery and settings.
Managing to be more ambitious and philosophical than its predecessor, while at the same time not going overboard with its story, John Wick: Chapter 2 humanises its otherwise fantastically brutal characters through various juxtapositions and colourful variations on the thirst for revenge, successfully building upon the foundations that its predecessor poured.
