Review of John Wick: Chapter 2 (2017) by Jin T — 03 Jul 2017
The next chapter in a world of assassins, John Wick is pulled into more than just serious business. With a wide array of connections, things tend to fall apart because of one mishap.
It's hard when you've got less people to trust and it really shows that idea in this movie. John Wick has gone to a whole new level of cutting loose ends and what not. Keanu Reeves has done a superb work in his performance in this movie. How do I put it? It didn't top the first movie but perhaps the story actually went consistent in this Chapter 2. It was so consistent that the story just kept on being interesting over time. Especially towards the end of the movie. It left without a doubt another continuation of John Wick's struggle of getting back to a normal kind of life.
Keanu Reeves performance on firefighting, the gun kata, and even close quarters combat, makes it all seem realistic to the very last detail. It's as if they wanted to make every situation as real as possible. It's nothing like complete choreographed action scenes. Not like what you usually used to in other action films. This one just makes it more real and more intense. It makes you think if John Wick can really last longer than he should be. But I'm pretty sure, with his level of endurance, he'll fight to his last breath.
What I like about this movie is that they attained the same element like in the first movie but not made it another kind of rehash. The consistent story was so well put out that I think it made the action scenes more thorough and making even more sense, to say the least. Here's hoping they can still attain the same element for Chapter 3.
John Wick Chapter 2 is another enjoyable action film. Keanu Reeves, even if he's my all-time favorite actor, never disappoints. Especially when it comes to this kind of action stuff. The characters blended in so well that the situations in every scenes adapted really well.
