Review of John Wick: Chapter 2 (2017) by Sonder — 20 Feb 2017

I absolutely loved John Wick. I watched it three times. I loved the martial arts gunfighting, I loved the plot line. John Wick stands on its own as a seminal movie for the action genre. I was bored by John Wick 2.

Many of the action scenes seemed virtually the same as the original. The entire mob illuminati theme teased in a promising way in the trailer got boring in the first half hour. The ending was very unsatisfying.

I felt cheated. The only redeeming thing about the movie is Keanu, who is a consumate professional, and who put a lot of blood, sweat and tears into making his role as the World's Biggest Baddass convincing.

But, it's not enough to save JW2. I would recommend watching John Wick twice and the trailer to John Wick 2, and call it good.
