John Wick is very much a love letter to the "Brotherhood" films of John Woo and owes a debt to great Hong Kong action films such as A Better Tomorrow and The Killer. The action scenes that take place in John Wick are truly phenomenal and some of the greatest fight sequences committed to film in recent years.
Action films can so easily turn into a mess of fists, guns, quips and thoughtless stories but John Wick is what happens when an action film is crafted with passion.
