Review of John Wick (2014) by Duncan1964 — 16 Feb 2015
John Wick is a retired hitman whose wife has just passed away, so he's not in the best of moods from the get go! Then some thugs steal his car and kill his dog and he snaps. That really is all there is to the story as Wick (Reeves) goes on a rampage of revenge killing anyone who gets in his way.
Hyper stylish and short on dialogue this may well be a case of style over substance, but what style!! A career resurgence for Reeves who shoots, cuts and stabs his way through the movie barely changing facial expression, but is perfect for the emotionally dead, single minded assassin.
It may not break new ground for the genre, but what it does, it does very well indeed.
