John Wick is a wholesome return to form for Keanu Reeves, but the movie itself is not as good. I did appreciate how its story isn't just simple action movie formula, but the clichés are there: "torture-in-a-chair" scenes where the villain leaves and gets confronted by the protagonist later; conflicting moral struggles for the "hero"; and even a deceased wife is thrown in to the mix.
It plays out smoothly and confidently, and I would even recommend seeing it. Just don't expect too much from its one-note acting and clunky beginning.
