Review of John Wick (2014) by Djnicey — 22 Mar 2015
Its not a bad film but its just one generic fight scene after another. The movie could easily have been shorter, the entire plot is:
1) Burglars kill hard mans new puppy.
2) hard man kills hundreds of men because of 1.
3) Man adopts new puppy.
If Wick went straight from 1 to 3 the movie would have made much more sense.
I have no idea why its rated so highly, its just one predictable generic fight scene after another. It has the usual tough-guy trope where one minute he's invincible, the next minute he's weak and vulnerable, next minute he's magically invincible again.
Keanu plays a good role but there is no plot to speak of and the fight scenes have all been done a thousand times before.
