Review of John Wick (2014) by Matt A — 14 Sep 2015
Keanu Reeves isn't the best actor in the world, but damn he can play a badass when he wants to! A simple revenge story involving Reeves going on a one man mission to bring down the people responsible for killing his puppy is late wife left him as a final gift.
Seems a pretty bad reason to be killing all these people to get to one person, but then the action is frenetic and really well staged, with Reeves being at complete ease with delivering a punch to the face and a bullet to the brain in a few moves.
It is humourless but for this film it does work, because Keanu cant deliver humour, well not since his Bill & Ted days. Unsurprisingly there is a sequel in the works. Lets hope its just as good as this.
