The transition between its depressing and sad introduction to the action packed part of the film was rough, the romance between John and his wife probably should have been explored more, and also it introduces us to your generic bad guy.
But this is one of the best action film of the year, filled with amazing settings, astounding camerawork, great action sequences, and real suspense. Great comeback performance from Keanu Reeves, and just shows how his talents are wasted in dramas, and should me more exploited in Action flicks.
