Review of John Wick (2014) by Randolph B — 24 Jan 2017
I skipped seeing this for awhile, even though I'm typically a K. Reeves fan, for his films such as Matrix, 48 samurai, and Point Break. I typically avoid the dirty gangster flicks and at its core that's what it was - Russian mob goes after Wick, a retired hitman and his revenge is limitless. While I particularly enjoyed his previous films such as Constantine and others for their creativity I'm not necessarily a fan of ruthless, brutal gun-totting films and hopes he returns to slightly more uplifting films than action-packed sequences, or I'll mainly be seeing these films only on rental rather than box office opening.
It was cool to have a variety of weapons from knives, to bats, to assault rifles, and they even had a sweet Mustang in there, but like I said I prefer assassin movies with perhaps a little more back-story, or history like his previous films. Even though they were able to get some authentic Russian in the film.
