Review of John Wick (2014) by Daniel W — 25 Feb 2017
My only criticism of this movie is that it made me want to start a campaign called "Bullets for Equality". I was annoyed that he didn't just kill the woman. I understand that it set up that he lets old friends go, but that Russian man wasn't actively trying to kill him. The only excuse I can think of is because of the rule in the hotel, but that rule didn't say he couldn't defend himself, so I don't know.
Are mainstream audiences not ready for their protagonist to kill horrible women yet? I wanted her to die, I think other viewers would, and the screenwriters wanted her to die, as she is eventually killed. But why couldn't John do it? Other than that, the movie is pretty much flawlessly told and no scene is wasted.
