Review of John Wick (2014) by Dan L — 05 Jul 2018
John Wick killed all these people because one of them killed his dog.
Seriously, this is it. How simpler can an action thriller movie plot be? The more important question is, how did John Wick (2014) made this simple plot into a highly engaging movie? Probably because the action choreography's absolutely brilliant, the direction's fast and slick, and Keanu Reeves is just amazing.
I also love the whole concept of these pact between killers, the Continental Hotel and how the members have a set of rules to follow. It's certainly a world I haven't explored before, and I'd love to see more of it.
I mean, there's actually not much to say about John Wick plot-wise, I think everyone agrees on that . . . what I said in that one sentence at the beginning of this review is basically the whole damn story. Okay, so John Wick used to be a killer, retired because he fell in love, she died and left a dog called Daisy for him to raise, and some thugs from a Russian crime syndicate kill Daisy and steal John's car. The result? The whole syndicate wiped out by one man. This is the whole entire movie, and Keanu Reeves just rocks his role with charisma to boot. It's a heart-racing, fun way to spend about an hour and forty minutes.
