Disappointing overall. Sure, the action is exciting, but they introduce several interesting characters and do nothing with them. No backstory, no context, they barely live long enough for us to recognize their faces let alone understand what they're doing in the story.
Even the titular character is paper-thin. Why should we care about john wick and his revenge scheme? He suffered a loss? that's it?
