Review of John Wick (2014) by Amine J — 13 Jan 2016
John Wick is a declaration of love for the John Woo, heavily styled gunfu action movies, in a age where action movies aren't all that memorable or simply not that great, John Wick is a captivating, thrilling, more old school action movie that knows exactly what it wants to do, and it does it fantasticaly.
The gunfights are hypnotic, you can't take your eyes off of the screen or you'll miss probably one the best action sequences ever put on screen, a simple plot device which some may find ridiculous but as I said John Wick does not want to be a drama, there are some dramatic moments but it's not the centerpiece of the movie, that goes to style, performance, as well as some mystery to an established undergroud community in the movie.
Keanu Reaves in his best role in years, John Wick is a refreshing take to, in my opinion, a stale genre.
