Review of John Wick (2014) by Bryce Y — 11 Oct 2018
After watching the film, I would say that I enjoyed it a lot. I enjoyed the well choreographed and well edited fight scenes which help showcase John Wick's proficiency with guns and fighting. This movie's fight scenes differ from majority of the action sequences I have watched in different movies in both the editing and sound used during those scenes. The movie also does a great job the set making as the movie creates different scenes which match the "vibe" of each scene such as in the nightclubs, hotels, etc.
After watching the movie, I would say that John Wick defies my expectations as an action film as the movie not only focuses on the amazing action scenes and showing John Wick's proficiency, but it also effectively builds the story around John Wick and the world that he lives in. As in the movie they also have different rules such as "no killing on continental grounds" and the presence of a hotel or place for assassins to stay and they even have their own currency which after watching many action movies, I did not come to expect an action movie to spend time where they introduce and show that John Wick and the world he lives in is complex and big.
