Review of John Tucker Must Die (2006) by Sarah M — 01 Jan 2013
It is one of the simplest plots to follow. Three girls all find out the perfect guy is cheating on them and try to get back at him by breaking his heart. As they are attempting to ruin John Tuckerâ(TM)s life he is able to come out of the situations more popular and remains the coolest guy in school. They try so many dumb plans it is funny how he can end up on top every time. Until they get the one ânobodyâ? girl, Kate, to gain his trust and love in the end. Kate realizes that its not kind to purposely hurt people and backs out. They are all able become better people in the end, the whole plot is very simple and cliche. Which is why it is so good. On a Sunday afternoon no one wants to watch Inception, where there are so many twists and turns its hard to follow. No, the reason this movie is so good is how funny it is and the simplicity of the plot.
I am no casting directior, or movie snob so my views on the movies are purely based on my enjoyment. The one thing that stuck out to me was how beautiful the entire cast was. When the cast is perfect it is sometimes hard to believe the roles they are playing. When the nerdy younger brother is a model, it is hard to believe he canâ(TM)t get the girl. Other than that small problem I thought the cast was well picked. The acting seemed fine to me, although I am not a great judge.
A problem I have is falling asleep during movies. Sometimes the movies drag on for much longer than necessary, creating a dull movie. John Tucker Must Die spanned the perfect amount of time. It wasnâ(TM)t so short that there wasnâ(TM)t enough details, but wasnâ(TM)t so long that you lose interest in the characters. It was easy to watch in an afternoon, not taking up the entire day. My family and I watch it any time and during any season, we love it!
