Review of John Q (2002) by Matthew C — 13 Apr 2011
A well made drama that becomes a thrilling race to save a little kid. Cassavetes crafts a great film that explores the love of family and the lengths that a father would go to save his son. While there are overbearing medical messages in the film, the voice of the characters and the power of the theme are never lost and leave the audience questioning whether what John did was right or wrong and if they would go to that extent to save someone they loved.
Carried me through emotionally even if I wanted some things to be better connected. A solid film with a lot of heart.
