Review of John Q (2002) by Rob H — 05 Nov 2011
While this film had its share of impact and got to the necessity for health care, it didn't frame the issue fairly. Dr. Turner could have been portrayed more optimistically. He worked hard in medical school to get his degree, and he's worked hard all his life to perfect the cutting-edge medical procedures that are so essential to save people's lives.
He's not out for a killing but he should be compensated for all of his efforts. Socialized medicine actually restricts these types of procedures from being done, because it doesn't reward all the effort required to be able to perform them.
