Review of John Q (2002) by Elisa G — 15 Apr 2012
An oldie that I just got around to seeing. Apart from being well acted (hello Denzel!), the story is deeply emotional (probably a bit more for me now that im pregnant but still...).
The movie is an analogy for what appears to be wrong about the USA. Their powers that be believe it appropriate to butt into the lives of people in countries all over the world and fund their military regime to do so while their own people can't get their needs met. Millions of US citizens are homeless, live below the poverty line- some even while maintaining one or multiple jobs- and can't get medical care. The government days there's no money yet there's ample in the military coffers!
And!!!! If that weren't enough, insurance companies are allowed to do dodgy things to stuff up people who are able to get themselves covered!!
Watch this movie Aussies to give you insight into where we are headed if we let our government here follow suit!
Disgraceful!
