Review of John Dies at the End (2013) by Alex V — 05 Jan 2013
Feels more like the pilot episode of some schlock sci-fi/horror TV series than an actual movie. The characters walk the line between bland and not-exactly-as-bland-as-you-thought. The plot is all over the map. An early sequence essentially promises that everything will be all right in the end, defusing any potential tension the rest of the movie might have had. It's chaotic, but relatively fun.
