Review of John Dies at the End (2013) by Alex S — 01 Dec 2013
I laughed. I mean, if someone like me can't appreciate an oddball, low-brow, cult humor, who can, right? There's a flapping killer mustache! Sadly, John Dies at the End is too nonsensical for its own good.
It never really draws the connection between the framing device and the main plot-- hell, I still don't get what the main conflict was or what powers the magical Soy Sauce gave the protagonists. Incoherence is fitfully amusing, but dissatisfying in a whole, though I imagine "John Dies at the End" plays hilariously in the right kind of audience.
