Not as terrible as critics have said. John Carter looks great visually. The costume designs are top notch, and the tattoos are something I LOVED. The story explores things we've seen before, only because the books the film is based off of are very very old, and basically influenced the many science fiction films that spawned after them.
The plotting may be uneven at times, and the acting from Carter himself could have been better. Overall, I liked it. It was decent. The marketing is what killed this film. Disastrous.
