Review of John Carter (2012) by Antony G — 20 Nov 2014
Despite getting panned by the critics, amateur & professional, I quite enjoyed this movie. I don't know when Disney bought the rights to Star Wars but I felt this was them definitely dipping their toe into that particular franchise.
I think Star Wars is in safe hands & quite frankly can't do any worse than the debacle of episodes I, II & III. Sure, it was slightly cheesy but it was a decent plot if not predictable & the CGI was simply stunning.
John Carter is a Civil War veteran who finds himself on Mars caught between a civil war on the Red Planet. Tired of war he doesn't wish to take sides & just wishes to return to Earth & the riches of the gold he found.
Enter a beautiful Martian Princess who needs his help & he soon changes his mind (who wouldn't) to rescue her & her people from tyranny.
