Not as bad as its cinematic performance suggests. the special effects were very good. the acting was stilted but given the script I guess they did their best. too long with a protracted and mainly pointless opening it does sort of pick up in the second half.

I think the story itself has been plundered and ultimately done better over the years. it may have been better updating it a little, but I guess it is what it is. having reread a couple of books the source material does now seem very old fashioned and outdated.

Hats off for staying true. if they had not I think the reviews would be saying that they'be messed around too much. such a fickle audience we are.
