Review of Joe Versus the Volcano (1990) by Molly W — 29 Nov 2007
One of the best movies of all time. No, really. I realize that it stars two of the doucheiest actors of the 90's, but this is the only movie that I can truly say that they were still "good".
In fact, this is probably the only Meg Ryan movie I can stand. This whole movie was misunderstood by the general public, and I'm glad for it. More for me! The movie was apparently based on a play, and kept the stage surreal aesthetic, which apparently rubbed people the wrong way.
This is one of those plays/movies where the set itself is a character, and should be taken as such-- not just "background" or "location". Pooh on anyone too feeble-minded to appreciate this movie for what it's worth.
