Review of Joe Versus the Volcano (1990) by Carly S — 28 Feb 2009
One of my favorite films, sort of a guilty pleasure of mine, and the true Sean Patrick Shanley masterpiece. Such a fun and charming romantic comedy (the best of the Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan meetings), this film has such a great cast and a crazy storyline, I watch it whenever it's on TV.
All the cameos and small roles are perfect (especially Lloyd Bridges and Abe Vigoda). The scene with the moon is just so wonderful. I love the score and for some reason, I really love the end credits with that song and the artwork, it's a nice touch to a delightful film.
I loved the film so much I even managed to incorporate it into a college essay relating it to A Tast of Cherry and some famous Greek tragedy I forget the name of.
