Review of Joe Strummer: The Future Is Unwritten (2007) by Philip P — 04 Jan 2008
Joe Strummer, the frontman of The Clash will always be remembered as a force in the music industry. This documentary takes you on a ride through Joe Strummers life via Strummers own voice and people associated to him in all kinds of ways.
Its an uneven documentary, some parts intriguing, some parts less intriguing. Despite its length of 2 hours, I feel that theres much more to say about The Clash. A lot more. And here you only get a small piece.
Joe Strummer was more than The Clash, but nevertheless the major force in The Clash. This band is part of music history and their mix of punk, reggae, rock etc was unique. I can still remember when I heard "London Calling" in 1979 at a very young age and how it blew me away.
Still, its a nice celebration of a punk legend.
