Review of Joe Strummer: The Future Is Unwritten (2007) by Miranda W — 23 Jul 2008
This movie is not about The Clash, but Joe Strummer. An insight about his life that makes you understand where he comes from, his years with the Clash, the aftermath and long road to find himself again, only to leave us at the most peculiar moment.
What I liked about this documentary is that it doesn't portray him as an untouchable rock icon, but as a man with positive and negative sides, one that followed his passions and was driven by his love of music, concern with the world, and call for unity.
It actually tells you that Joe Strummer was a man you have to look upon not just for what he represented with The Clash, but beyond.
