Review of Joe Strummer: The Future Is Unwritten (2007) by Mike A — 08 Oct 2009
I liked this but there were a few faults. The fact that the whole "Give Em' Enough Rope" album is entirely skipped over seems strange. Especially considering that I've heard tales that it took a huge toll on the band, especially Strummer. Also some of the celebrity interviews irked me, I can't quite explain why as I do like Johnny Depp and Steve Buscemi (and most of the other "big names" that were interviewed") but it didn't sit right with me.
But all in all I liked this. It destroyed my old idea of what Joe was like and replaced with a different idea, one that is somehow more likable than before. It's at times sad and other times uplifting. A very rewarding watch.
