Review of Joe Dirt 2: Beautiful Loser (2015) by Kimberly H — 12 Jan 2016
So pretty much, the poster says it all for this one: it's a less-so take on the original film. Everything is just curbed back: the budget is much lower, Dennis Miller isn't quite as funny (or relevant), the characters are the same and follow much of the same plotlines.
I think it's just strange; this movie is supposed to be, I think like a couple years after the 1st and everyone is just aged so much. The only real inventive mechanic of the story was the take on time travel - kind of a weird mix between Back To The Future and Forrest Gump, where Joe is a kind of redneck inventor of all these redneck events and motifs.
There are some funny moments, but generally the whole movie is Joe traveling from first movie callback to the next and not really adding anything of value.
