Review of Joe (2014) by Nicholas M — 09 Nov 2014
'Joe' seems to be a vehicle for the 'return of cage'. It takes a long time to tell a short story. A maudlin tale of man barely suppressing his internal rage at the world ( Cage does this very well) It's no more than competent, and at times seems like a string of scenes to show off Cage's talent at an audition for a better film.
We already knew Cage could act but we also know he has little ability in his choice of scripts recently.' 'Frozen Ground' is probably the most interesting thing he's done in years and this film does not change that.
Offbeat is good, but this story is not original enough to be interesting.
