Review of Jobs (2013) by Richard S — 31 Oct 2014
With the announcement that Danny Boyle has recruited Christian Bale for his Steve Jobs biopic I thought I'd check out this earlier effort that slipped under the radar last year.
The film itself is ok, perhaps a little over long and there are a few cheesy moments but it covers the beginnings of Apple started in a garage to it being valued the most valuable company in the world so if you're looking for a complete history then this is it.
It also doesn't gloss over Steve Jobs' private life, it could have been a hero worship film but it also shows Steve Jobs the thoughtless asshole who abandons relationships, friendships and even his own kid for the progression of the company.
What's most surprising is that Ashton Kutcher actually does a pretty decent job at impersonating the Apple founder. It's no Social Network but worth a watch.
