Review of Jobs (2013) by Junichi U — 20 Oct 2015
I live in SF. I lived here more than 30 years and experienced what Jobs has done. Ashton Kutcher made me witness (meet) Jobs again. He IS SUPERB. I avoided watching this movie because I thought no one could really convey that strange and exciting feeling we in the Bay Area experienced in the past 30 years.
But when one cashier at a TARGET store in SF said to me, "Did you see the movie JOBS? It was good.", I decided to get a blu-ray. She made this comment because I bought a special STEVE JOBS issue of TIME.
She was right, JOBS IS AN EXCELLENT MOVIE. One thing that kept me from giving 5 stars is that the movie didn't effectively convey the atmosphere (geography and climate) of the Silicon Valley especially around Palo Alto, Cupertino and Stanford University.
If the movie was shot more in actual locations, it would have become a truly great movie. BTW I think most of the critics here are wrong. Many of them seem to think that they understand Jobs. But they don't.
Jobs was a part of the time when a revolution was taking place. The real protagonist of the revolution was the time/era itself in a particular location/Santa Clara Valley. I think that this movie almost succeeded in representing Jobs as one of the catalysts that kept the revolution moving forward.
I think JOBS IS AN EXCELLENT MOVIE.
