Review of Jobs (2013) by Cesar F — 23 Apr 2016
This is not a bad movie to me, but it misses such a big opportunity of telling the Steve Jobs story. Sorkin & Boyle's "Steve Jobs" gets closer, but still doesn't nail it either. I think Jobs' story is about exploring what made him tick more, and why, instead of so much emphasis on what happened from him ticking vs. everyone else's tocking.
I like Kutcher as Jobs here. He's the strongest part of this film. But the cast around him, other than the Jony Ives character feel more like impersonations than embodiments. The music is often way too sentimental and trying to force us to care.
Definitely a film worth seeing as a hopeful appetizer to the eventual masterpiece film about Jobs that's out there in the dirt waiting to be dug up.
