Review of Joan Rivers: A Piece of Work (2010) by Paul E — 15 Jan 2011
Her image overshadowed her legacy long ago, but people seem to forget how groundbreaking Joan Rivers was when she began her career. This documentary addresses that as the filmakers spend a "year in the life" with Joan (this is the year she won "Celebrity Apprentice").
Funny, sad and very telling - her life is glamorous a lot of the time, but the doc also shows the not-so-glamorous side of a comedian's life. Even if you don't care for Rivers, I believe this doc will open your eyes in a lot of ways.
