Review of Jiro Dreams of Sushi (2011) by William H — 30 Jul 2012
A wonderful documentary about the oldest 3-Michelin Star chef, Jiro, who owns a small 10-seat sushi restaurant in Tokyo. The movie is beautifully shot, as the viewers are treated to "food porn" on screen.
I admire this man's perfectionist attitude and self-discipline, as he worked for more than 70 years doing something that he loves. It makes me wonder about what my "mastery" will be in the future, because I've always wanted to be really good at something, anything.
It makes you envious at those who are champions of their realm, and inspire you to find that "thing" that you want to excel at also. Great film, and damn, I really want to eat at his restaurant!
