Review of Jiro Dreams of Sushi (2011) by Maira B — 07 Aug 2012
This documentary was a perfect example of the way a film of this nature should be. Just as the man, his craft, and the culture that he lives in, it is simple and completely refreshing. I loved the score and how throughout the film the documentarian weaved the notions of an elite conductor or musician and a Shokunin together, noting the desire for perfection and the artfulness of every aspect of Jiro's sushi technique.
It was wonderful to see a man so in love with his career after 70 plus years and I hope that I will be as wise and full of energy at his age. This documentary was wonderful and I cannot wait to try his sushi someday.
I loved it.
