Review of Jiro Dreams of Sushi (2011) by Rachel Y — 01 Jun 2013
The pictures of sashimi did not disappoint. It was definitely neat to see the whole process behind the sashimi, including the lives of the men consumed by running the legendary place. The big hole in this movie for me was Jiro himself - his life story is one of hard work and perfection; at certain times that can feel inspiring, but at others it feels almost aloof and selfish, particularly when it comes to his sons.
I was expecting to leave the film thinking "Jiro is my hero" and "I must fly there now," but instead I just leave thinking "Props".
