Review of Jindabyne (2006) by Sitenoise ! — 17 Jun 2008
Jagged little film. It left me on edge all evening. It's painful and disturbing to watch this film, as the consequences of the men's actions spread to affect the community. And thank god it didn't take the low road into serial killer thriller.
The fishermen's partners brings the films subtexts out into the open when they question the men's actions. Llnney wonders if her husband got some sexual thrill out of knowing the dead woman's body was there.
Leah Purcell as Carmel wonders if her white boyfriend and the rest would have left the woman there if she had not been black. Purcell was alsot in Lantana, which was directed by Lawrence as well.
