Review of Jin-Roh: The Wolf Brigade (1999) by Solomon F — 14 Jun 2007
Grim. Haunting. Tense. As much as Jin Roh seems like a high-budget production, the result is actually very economical in nature. Fluctuations of unsettling action bridled with controlled emotions create an eerie, suffocating atmosphere appropriate for the doomed characters.
The organic visuals and political statements lend a chilling realism to Jin Roh that reminds us of our world in an Orwellian tradition. A fairy tale for the cynical.
