Review of Jin-Roh: The Wolf Brigade (1999) by Santiagonieto S — 13 Jul 2009
Great, another f-ing depressing movie -- it's all about cloak and daggers, morality, drama intelligence, counter intelligence and plain old drama.
There were allusions that totally went over my head, and admittedly, a lot of the drama went on were a bit beyond me; it might take a few more years for me to fully comprehend what the story is out to telll, or perhaps I just need to pay a bit more attention (a 2nd or 3rd viewing might not be amiss, though it is quite depressing).
Impeccably animated, superbly engineered sound, it doesn't feel like the 11 year old feature length animated movie that it is; by that merit alone, it's worth giving the movie a look.
As it is, I''ll probably let the movie lie and revisit it when I'm a bit older. A stirring and confusion 102 minutes of my life.
