Review of Jimmy Neutron: Boy Genius (2001) by Philip S — 21 May 2007
This is not Nickelodeon's first jaunt into the realm of tv shows-turned-movies. They had a pair of semi-successful movies in their Rugrats movies. That show, however, subsequently ended shortly after the release of those two movies.
Jimmy Neutron, however, seems to be different so far. Six years after the release of this movie, the tv show is still going strong on Nickelodeon, and has gained fans in both adults and kids.
Jimmy's enemies in this movie, The Yolkians, are introduced for the first time after abducting the parents of all the kids in Retoville. Since their introduction to audiences, the Yolkians have long since become semi-regulars on the tv series. One can definitely tell the difference in animation techniques between this movie and the tv show. But that aside, both are still fully enjoyable. And while this movie may not go down in the annals of movie history as one of the best of all time, it is still a fun movie.
